stXTZ on Etherlink

The stXTZ token can be bridged to Etherlink L2 - and back to Tezos L1 - using the Etherlink bridge. Smart contract details for the Etherlink bridge are available in the Smart Contracts section.

When bridging, the stXTZ tokens are locked in the bridging contract on Tezos L1, and an ERC-20-compliant proxy token is minted on Etherlink L2. When tokens are bridged back to Tezos L1, the proxy tokens are burned on Etherlink L2, and the stXTZ tokens on Tezos L1 are released to the user.

Bridging from Tezos L1 to Etherlink L2 is almost immediate. Bridging from Etherlink L2 back to Tezos L1 takes approximately 15 days.

Benefits of using stXTZ on Etherlink#

While native XTZ does not accrue staking rewards when bridged to Etherlink L2, stXTZ continues to accrue value even when bridged to Etherlink L2. This allows users to retain 90% of the staking rewards on XTZ while using stXTZ on Etherlink L2 for DeFi or other applications available on Etherlink.

How to use stXTZ on Etherlink#

The following is an example of how stXTZ can move between Tezos L1 and Etherlink L2:

  1. On Tezos L1: Mint stXTZ by staking XTZ on stacy.fi.
  2. On Tezos L1: Bridge stXTZ to Etherlink L2 using the Etherlink bridge.
  3. On Etherlink L2: Use stXTZ like any ERC-20 token (e.g., on Superlend, Iguana Dex, Hanji, or Oku).
  4. On Etherlink L2: Bridge stXTZ back to Tezos L1 using the Etherlink bridge.
  5. On Tezos L1: Unstake stXTZ and receive XTZ on stacy.fi.

Alternatively, instead of bridging from Tezos L1, a user could acquire stXTZ directly within the Etherlink ecosystem by using decentralized exchanges such as Iguana Dex, Hanji, or Oku.

stXTZ Price Oracle on Etherlink#

Because the stXTZ price is continuously updated as staking rewards accrue, a price oracle powered by Acurast sends the stXTZ price, calculated by the stXTZ staking pool contract on Tezos L1, to a Chainlink-compatible oracle contract on Etherlink - deployed at 0x4Bf5C46Ee59a1110c2a242715f9c3b548A14ee02.

stXTZ Supply on Etherlink#

The circulating supply of stXTZ on Etherlink can be checked on the Etherlink block explorer using its token contract 0x01F07f4d78d47A64F4C3B2b65f513f15Be6E1854.
